How can time move so slowly, yet so fast?

Well, here it is, my last official day of Maternity Leave.  How does time move so slow at times and so fast overall?  It feels like just yesterday I was waiting for E to be born, now she is 18 days old, and I go back to work tomorrow.  I am just glad it is still working from home!  :)  Her swing is all setup next to my desk and today we are practicing sleeping in our swing and listening to Mommy type.  The real trick will be to see if she puts up with Mommy's conference calls...LOL!

We had a busy weekend.  On Friday we said goodbye to Nana and Papa Shough, we miss them very much.

We also had our first bath on Thursday and have since needed another one.  E doesn't really mind being bathed too much but doesn't like the cold afterwards.  We have to snuggle in our warm blankets for a while afterwards to recover!

We also need to boast about Daddy's gardening abilities.  Today Adam surprised me with a huge summer squash.  Not sure how we missed this one in the garden but I have to show it off.  For perspective I put a soda can in the pictures.  Guess what we are having for dinner tonight?
Now I just have to figure out how to cook it.  I am thinking a nice Yellow Squash Au Gratin but I think I might need more squash than I have.  I have this jumbo squash and two smaller ones, maybe it'll be enough for just Adam and I, I'll have to keep looking at recipes though.  Any suggestions?

Photo's - the first batch! :-)

Here is the first batch of photos that Holly has finished.  She did such a great job I can't believe it and I can't wait to see the rest.

On a side note, I am now an Aunt!  :-)  Chris and Vanessa had their little girl early this morning and we are so excited that E's cousin has now joined their little family.  We can't wait to meet her in October, we might have to come to UT earlier, I am not sure I can wait till October!  :-)

On to the pictures...

Busy busy week with Nana Shough!

Well, it's been a busy week for both little E and Mommy.  Monday we spent the day with Nana out shopping and out to dinner, we spent Tuesday at the hotel with Nana and Papa and then Nana babysat while Adam and I went to see Harry Potter and TDH P2 in 3D.  It was awesome.  I loved every minute of it, except for being parted from E.  That was the longest I have been separated from her since she came home from the hospital, and if you don't count the time she was kept in the hospital after I was discharged, it was the longest we have been separated for nearly 10 months!  :-)

Today we had a lot of fun, but again another very long day, with a photo shoot.  Holly was nice enough to take pictures of E and they all were so cute but it was a lot of work.  E slept the whole way to Holly's house so of course she was up and ready to go when we got there.  So, it took a little while to get her to go back to sleep so we could position her and take pictures.  Then we would have to reposition her, and she would wake up, so I had to nurse her back to sleep, position her again, and more pictures.  It went on like this for nearly 3 hours but we got a ton of great photos.  I can't wait to share them.  Here is a little taste of one I took with my camera phone.  It's not nearly as good as the pictures I'll get from Holly, she has a really good eye!

Tomorrow we go in for E's two week pediatrician visit where they'll measure her and see how she is growing and measures up.  We can't wait, but it'll be another early morning!

Goodbye Grandma, we miss you already!

So today was a sad morning, we had to take Grandma to the airport and send her off to see her next Grandbaby, Grandpa, and family!  :-(

I realized we didn't get nearly enough pictures of all of us together but we got a bunch of E and Grandma together and I wanted to share:

I was getting a little stir crazy so we went out to the beach to walk along the ocean and here is a cute picture of our outfit with Grandma:

We love and miss you Grandma!  Hurry back and make sure to bring Grandpa with you! XOXO

E's First Doctors Appointment

We went to E's first doctor’s appointment yesterday morning.  Since she had a high bilirubin count the doctor wanted to see her to follow-up a little earlier than the standard 1-week appointment.  So we got dressed up all pretty and headed out:
The doctor was very happy with E's development.  When we were discharged from the hospital she weighted 7lbs 4oz but yesterday at her appointment she weighed 7lbs 7oz so she is gaining weight, YEA!!!  :-)  The doctor also thought her coloring looked good.  She is still a little yellow in the face but our pediatrician assured us that the face is the last place to lose the bilirubin so she isn't worried at all.  When E was discharged from the hospital the nurses had warned us that she might have to get more blood work done to check her bilirubin count at our appointment and I was worried because of all the blood work she had in the hospital (a bilirubin, Anemia, and another test daily) that had left her little feet looking like a war zone.  However, her pediatrician though she was looking so good and had gained enough weight that she didn't want to have the tests done, at least not at this appointment.  Our next appointment is on the 21st and that's when they'll do all her measurements to check her growth and size, so we are very happy!

SHE'S HOME!!!!!!!!

E is now home with us.  Not more than 5 minutes after I finished posting my blog post this morning I got a call from the hospital asking "where are you?"  Yesterday we were at the hospital quite early but today I figured with it being Sunday they would need more time.  Anyway, they had news; E was being discharged and ready to come home!!!  I did the biggest happy dance and was bouncing off the walls until I could get everything packed up and out into the car.  It sounds like I had a lot of packing to do but to be honest I have been packed up for weeks so it was mostly getting calm enough to drive and letting Mom finish getting ready.

Here are some pictures:

Let me introduce you to...

E, born 7/6/2011 at 4:14pm PT, she's 7lbs and 12oz and 20in long.

Here is our happy family:

Proud father and daughter:
Due to a high bilirubin count E has had to stay on bili-lights for a couple extra days in the hospital.  It has been hard leaving her every night, I was discharged on Friday, but the nurses at the hospital have been great in supporting us.  Yesterday we were able to stay all day with her in one of the empty labour and delivery rooms.  I am very hopeful that our little E will be able to come home this morning.

So, we are off to the hospital...

Happy Belated July 4th

So, yesterday was little Evette's due date but she decided it wasn't time yet.

Mom and I had a nice day out shopping and trying to walk into labor.  Then Adam, Mom, and I went to Redondo Beach Pier to eat some yummy mexican food and watch the 4th of July fireworks.  We had a great time and got a very nice table at the restuarant and this is the view from our table:
I have never seen so many people at the beach.  Not more than 5 minutes before I took this picture there were a ton of people swimming too!  Considering how cold the water is out here I couldn't believe it.

Now, the update for today, I had my weekly OB appointment this morning, and while I had slightly dilated more there wasn't a significant amount of progress.  Being somebody who enjoys technology I decided to go on a head and schedule an induction for tomorrow.  So, bright and early tomorrow morning at 6am we are heading to the hospital and hopefully Evette will be joining us tomorrow before the day is out.

Wish me luck!

Adam's Birthday will stay just his birthday! :-)

Well, June 29th has come and gone.  We had a great birthday day for Adam and little E decided not to crash the party.  We are still playing the waiting game although I am VERY uncomfortable and I think I was having contractions last night.  They just aren't frequent or long enough yet to head to the hospital.  Oh well, today is Grandpa's birthday so maybe she'll be a birthday present for Grandpa!

Mom also flew out on Wednesday night, she made it safe and sound to LA after flying through Vegas.

So, our Thursday we let Adam sleep in, made a yummy breakfast, made Adam's birthday cake (which is all gone now too), went to the beach, and then went to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner.  Adam loves Joe's crab legs and was able to eat his fill!  Here are some pictures:
